How to delete Windows.old Folder ?

          If you Install Windows 7 without formatting Partition and selecting Custom Install you will find all your previous version Windows  files in windows.old folder in Installation Drive.If you Don't want that files you can delete them and reclaim disk space.Here the Problem arises.When you try to Delete this folder Directly it will show show Access Denied Error.But How to Delete This folder??
           I will Explain simple procedure for deleting Windows.old folder.First download Unlocker  software form link provided below either you can download Installer or Portable version.The name itself says it will Unlock processes handling that files.Once downloaded install Unlocker. After Installing open Unlocker it will prompt for folder Browse to Windows.old folder and click ok. If any process found it will display process then select Delete from Dropdown menu and click ok. Thats all folder will be deleted and success dialogue will popup.


Note that this may take few minutes depending on size of folder.

2nd Method :

  You can also use Disk Cleanup. for deleting Windows.old folder.
  1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
    If you're prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
  2. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.
    If you're again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
  3. Select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and any other check boxes for the files you want to delete, and then click OK.
  4. In the message that appears, click Delete Files.
